History: The name Anyang (����) originated from Anyang Temple (������), which was founded by Whanggun, the founder of the Koryo Nation. In 1941, Sei-Myeon of Siheung-Gun was renamed Anyang-Myeon. Anyang in Buddhism means ��land of happiness and utopia where everything is in harmony with no anguish but only pleasure.��
Geography: It is surrounded by Mount Samsung in the northeast and Mount Suri in the southwest. The Yanyang stream flows west through the city. Easy access is by Gyeongsu Industrial Road, the Gyeonbu railway and subway line no. 1. Culture: Jungchosaji in Seoksu-Dong is an important cultural asset and Anyang Amusement Park is located on Mount Kwanak. The city is quickly becoming urbanized with the development of Pyeoncheon New City. |

Manan cultural festival(October/Anyang City/Liberal Arts center)
This festival is sponsored by the Anyang Cultural Center in October and held in the Liberal Arts Center. The main purpose of this festival is to promote local culture and to satisfy the people��s desire for cultural events. There are activities such as mask-dance performances, baduk competitions, royal carriage parades, art displays, stone displays, calligraphy displays, speech contests, photo exhibitions, and traditional wedding ceremonies.
