History: Uiwang City originated from Uiwang-Myeon where letter Ui (��) from Uigok-Myeon (������) and Wang (��) from Wang Ryun-Myeon (������) were combined.
Geography: The city is located in the central western part of Gyeonggi Province with well know mountains like Guksa peak in the northeast, Baekwoon mountain in the east, Morak mountain in the west and the well known Baekwoon lake. It is considered one of the most beautiful garden cities and an environmentally friendly city with mountains and lakes in harmony with nature.
Culture: Home of the Railway Museum where you can see the history of Korean railways. Kyeungsu industrial roads and the Kyungbu railway pass through the city for easy access and it is famous for its furniture factory complex, and floricultural and potted plant complex.

Baekwoon Art Festival(Early October/Around Uiwang city)
A variety of activities such as drama and traditional Korean music, exhibitions, poem recital society, youth drawing contests are held at the festival.
