Geography: Hwaseong borders the west coast, with fertile plains in the south and east. It is an urban/rural city. The region is ideally located to become a base for the development of the west coast. The natural conditions, well developed basic facilities, easy access by express highways, ports, national roads and ideal coastal location near the metropolitan region should see it become the heartland of economic development.
Culture: the royal tombs of kings Sado and Jeonjo are located here and many treasures from Jeongjo Dynasty are found in Yeoju Temple. Hwasung hot springs attract many tourists. Also, the site of the 3.1 demonstration is in Jeam-Ri. |

King Jeonjo Filial Conduct Cultural Festival(During May)
At Hwasung royal tomb on every second Sunday in May, a ceremony for King Jeongjo is hosted by the Lee¡¯s of Jeonju clan members. In 1997, coinciding with 1997 cultural heritage year, they celebrated ¡°Gunneungjaehyang¡± and ¡°Hyohyang cultural festival¡± simultaneously, in which the people in the region participated to remember and praise the achievement and filial conduct of King Jeongjo.
