Geography: Mount Bukhan, Mount Nogo and alluvial plains surround the shores of the Han River. Gyeonggi railroad in the west and Freedom Road & Unification Road from North to South run through the region.
Culture: Goyang Flower Expo is well known and the Korea International Exhibition Center and Tour/Culture Complex are under construction. Also, many cultural ruins and tourist attraction such as Hangju Hill Fort, Lake Park, Bukhan Hill Fort, Seooh Royal Tomb, Seosam Royal Tomb etc, are scattered all over the area. |

Hangju great-victory festival(beginning of October)
This festival is held in commemoration of General Kwonyul¡¯s great victory at Hangju, which was one of 3 major victories during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 (Imjinwhaeran). The origin of this festival is not clear, but it is thought to have first been held on the 403rd anniversary in 1996.
A memorial service for General Kwonyul is held at Chungjang Temple, where his portrait is kept, and Korean archery and sketch contests are held during the festival.
