Geography: the entire Pyongtaek area is formed by flood plains and lowlands. The coastline used to be very irregular but has been simplified with the completion of the Namyang and Asanman tide embankments. Situated in the most southern part of Gyeonggi-do, due to low sea level it is very hot in summer and very warm in winter compared to other regions.The region is emerging as the center of the west coast and the hub city of Northeast Asia with the opening of Pyongtak Harbor and the West Coast Grand Bridge. Easy access via Gyeongbu railroad and Gyeongbu highway attracts many tourists to Pyongtak Lake and the Asanman Coastal Embankment.
Culture: the spectacle of wide granary plains and Pyongtaek farmer folk bands, which originated from the region, maintain the traditional culture of southern Gyeonggi-do.

Pyongtaek Agricultural Festival(End of Oct~Early November)
The festival started in 1988 to promote agricultural export from production technology to distribution to people and enhance unity and to materialize first class Pyongtaek agricultural products. Events include a Pear fair, Miss Pyongtaek contest, exhibition of outstanding agricultural, livestock and other agricultural related events.
