Description
Rising 904m above sea level in Ildong-myeon's Topyeong-ri is Mt.Baekunsan. It's many peaks of varying sizes, including the 799m-tall Bakdalbong Peak and the 1,246m Mt.Gwangdeoksan which borders with Gangwon-do offers a unique sight for every changing season, soothing the weary bodies and souls of urbanites. Anyone who has had a taste of the region's indigenous Ildong makgeolli (rice wine) or Ildong galbi (seasoned ribs), or has taken a stroll along the hiking trails will want to recommend them to friends and family and even come back for more.
Then there is Heungryongsa Temple, which was built by saint Doseon towards the late Silla era. An historical fact about the temple is that upon its renovations in 1922, it was renamed Heukryongsa Temple, only to regain its original name soon after.
