Taepung Observatory |
| Description |
Opened in December 1991, the observatory (with a height) is located closest to the Armistice Line, only 800m away, playing an important role to raise the national security awareness. From here you can have a good view of the beautiful Imjingang River. In Pilseung-Gyo about 200m from the observatory is there a room displaying daily necessaries of the North Korean army that were floated along the river from the north and devices and other stuffs that were used by North Korean spies who tried to infiltrate into the south for 34 times. About 10Km from the observatory runs the Imjingang River, the tap water source for Yeoncheon-gun residents and a fishing spot during the summer. You can also enjoy gathering spiral shellfish called Daseulgi.
